Working Their Way Down

Day 201

So what is different in this picture as compared to yesterday?

If you said "tile" you would be correct!

Here's a wall I didn't get a shot of yesterday.

And here's a picture of a ladder.

Actually, it's a shot to show you that the room was painted but there was no way to get a shot around the ladder (because I'm too lazy).

The stairs got the treatment too.  No more holes!

And also the room at the bottom of the stairs.

I think those streaks were there because the paint was still wet and I suspect it will get another coat tomorrow.

They also worked on the downstairs doors.

No, that's not a ghost.  That's a flashlight.  If I didn't use the flashlight, the picture looked like this:

Don't ask me why my phone/camera wouldn't flash with out shining a light first.  I hope you appreciate the lengths to which I will go for my art . . . er . . . blog.

We've Got Colors!

Day 200

We were somewhat worried about the colors because you can't really tell what it looks like until it is on the walls.  However, we are pleasantly surprised.

We were worried that the yellow would be either too flourescent or almost white but it seems to have fallen right in the range that we wanted.

The great room is looking nice too and it also looks nice next to the yellow of the kitchen.

Shower tiles were finished as were the floors and the back splash.  I'm not sure if they grouted yet as I was not going to walk on the floor tiles and make them all wonky.

The White House

Day 199

I got some better pictures and the paint on the cabinets are done.  So they are super white now.

And the doors are up as well.

See.  White.

Even the walls.

But the color of the walls will change soon enough.

Speaking of walls, here's a shot of the shower walls.

 And the floor.

There's no grout yet but that will probably happen tomorrow.

The deck is almost done.

And they need to put this somewhere.

Pot Pourri

Day 195

Sorry for the lag in posting.  It's been busy but I'm going to make up for now with a plethora of pictures.

They continue to work on the deck.  Railing is going up.

And today they added even more railing.

They began masking parts of the cabinets so they could paint the outsides.  The shelves and interiors are already finished pine so those don't need to get painted.

Masking on the winodws as well.

This is what has been blocking me from taking pics the last few days.

But tonight, I broke the rules, of course.

 The ghost kitchen!

 The specter shelves!

The phantom doors!  Okay, that doesn't sound spooky anymore.

More cabinet doors.  Supposedly, they are using some new kind of paint that is stronger than regular latex paint.

They put a layer of what seems to be concrete on the shower walls.  I guess they'll start tiling on Monday.

Finally, the closet got a coat of primer.

Our foreman said, "We do most of the work and then the painters come in and take all the credit."  I hope he doesn't think I think that.

What Lurks Below The Surface

Day 192

They have prepped the walls for tile.  It's some kind of paper/chicken-wire thing probably made for maximized grip.

They also worked on the deck a bit.

They also did a lot of caulking.  Like I said, makes for boring pictures.  You don't believe me?

Well here's a sample.

See.  Boring.  But they say prep is more important than the paint.

I'm Gonna Wash That Grey Right Out Of My Hair

Day 191

So something is different about the house.  Can you guess?

Okay, the scaffolding is gone but the answer I was looking for was that it is white instead of concrete gray.

They are prepping the inside for paint as well.  Lots of small minor stuff that, unfortunately, make for boring pictures.  However, there should be some really good pics in the coming weeks as the walls will be patched and painted.

Built-Ins And Uppers

Day 186

And we are thankful for . . . more cabinets!

The upper cabinets went up in the kitchen.

The built-ins were also installed in the great room.

The cabinets in both the kitchen and great room are all getting painted white.  Looks like they are going to finish those up next week and then I think the painters will be coming in.
