Let There Be Light!

Day 207

And all of a sudden, there are lights everywhere.  It's like a Christmas miracle . . . made possible by lots of planning and hard work.  And with light we also get color so check out the walls while you're at it.  Once again by room:

The kitchen.

The great room.

The dining room.

The guest room

The new walk-in closet.

The wall sconce between the bathroom and closet.

The master bedroom sconces.

 Master bedroom recessed lights.

 The office.

The stairway (although these aren't new).

 The pantry.

 The deck.

The patio.

The outside of the master bedroom.

Here's a closer shot of the outdoor sconce.

Lastly, this one has nothing to do with light but they are going to pour concrete on Monday.

Now the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is looming large.

And just for fun, here are some turkeys I saw on the road outside of my work office.

They roam wild in Berkeley and Albany and occasionally right outside of my house.

This Sucker's Electrical

Day 206

So if you looks closely, you can see that the outlets got installed and we're close to turning on the power.

Oh yeah, the cabinets got handles too.  No we're not using that garbage can as our new stove.

That's our corner thingee where the toaster and microwave ovens will live.

Here we have ceiling lights and handles on the cabinets as well.

Master bedroom got some color now.

And the downstairs hallway, which took a beating is looking nicer too.

There's still a lot of paint electrical needing to be done but it's only a matter of days.

It All About The Grout

Day 202

Looks to me like the tile is done.  Unless I ruined it by walking on it.

 Marbleish floor.

 Marbleish sink and counter.

 The shower stall.

Closer pic of the nooks, ledge and floor.

 Closet and throne room.

The master bedroom is primed.

Sorry but you'll have to wait for the color on that one.  Probably Monday.

They did the first coat on the office.

I saw some primer peeking through on some of the edges so that'll get another coat.  Looks like they're going to finish painting on Monday or Tuesday.

Working Their Way Down

Day 201

So what is different in this picture as compared to yesterday?

If you said "tile" you would be correct!

Here's a wall I didn't get a shot of yesterday.

And here's a picture of a ladder.

Actually, it's a shot to show you that the room was painted but there was no way to get a shot around the ladder (because I'm too lazy).

The stairs got the treatment too.  No more holes!

And also the room at the bottom of the stairs.

I think those streaks were there because the paint was still wet and I suspect it will get another coat tomorrow.

They also worked on the downstairs doors.

No, that's not a ghost.  That's a flashlight.  If I didn't use the flashlight, the picture looked like this:

Don't ask me why my phone/camera wouldn't flash with out shining a light first.  I hope you appreciate the lengths to which I will go for my art . . . er . . . blog.

We've Got Colors!

Day 200

We were somewhat worried about the colors because you can't really tell what it looks like until it is on the walls.  However, we are pleasantly surprised.

We were worried that the yellow would be either too flourescent or almost white but it seems to have fallen right in the range that we wanted.

The great room is looking nice too and it also looks nice next to the yellow of the kitchen.

Shower tiles were finished as were the floors and the back splash.  I'm not sure if they grouted yet as I was not going to walk on the floor tiles and make them all wonky.

The White House

Day 199

I got some better pictures and the paint on the cabinets are done.  So they are super white now.

And the doors are up as well.

See.  White.

Even the walls.

But the color of the walls will change soon enough.

Speaking of walls, here's a shot of the shower walls.

 And the floor.

There's no grout yet but that will probably happen tomorrow.

The deck is almost done.

And they need to put this somewhere.

Pot Pourri

Day 195

Sorry for the lag in posting.  It's been busy but I'm going to make up for now with a plethora of pictures.

They continue to work on the deck.  Railing is going up.

And today they added even more railing.

They began masking parts of the cabinets so they could paint the outsides.  The shelves and interiors are already finished pine so those don't need to get painted.

Masking on the winodws as well.

This is what has been blocking me from taking pics the last few days.

But tonight, I broke the rules, of course.

 The ghost kitchen!

 The specter shelves!

The phantom doors!  Okay, that doesn't sound spooky anymore.

More cabinet doors.  Supposedly, they are using some new kind of paint that is stronger than regular latex paint.

They put a layer of what seems to be concrete on the shower walls.  I guess they'll start tiling on Monday.

Finally, the closet got a coat of primer.

Our foreman said, "We do most of the work and then the painters come in and take all the credit."  I hope he doesn't think I think that.
